Independent Sales Rep - Yardley, PA (16432-935)

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Independent Sales Representative is the direct day-to-day point of contact between UNFI and its independent retail customers. The Independent Sales Representative is accountable to perform all sales, service, marketing and merchandising activities in his/her assigned sales territory. This is a full time position servicing Supermarkets in the Yardley, PA area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Provide high quality service to the assigned sales territory as required to meet specific independent store needs and expectations. This includes writing orders, routine display/shelf presentation, and timely processing of returns and damaged product for credit.
Identify, present, and sell to store management, opportunities to increase store sales through substitution of slow-moving items with alternative products.
Effectively control all credits and process them in a timely manner, write orders which maintain necessary inventory levels with a minimum of out of stocks and where appropriate, merchandise/stock our products in a neat and organized fashion that meets customer and company expectations.

Perform minor product resets and display installations to meet store needs and expectations.
Identify, present, and sell to store management, opportunities to increase store sales through substitution of slow-moving items with alternative products.
Identify, recommend, and perform product demonstrations as appropriate.
Present all marketing programs, and promotional period books to store management, and be adept at designing and building creative off shelf displays.
Identify stores in the sales territory that are not current customers, research needs, develop a plan, present proposal to store management and follow up as needed.
Monitor competitive activities in the sales territory, communicate activity to supervisory personnel and recommend paths forward to increase company profitability, and follow up on these opportunities.
Operate a profitable sales territory by managing credits, open invoices, refused orders, etc.
Follow established policies and procedures to accomplish the above accountabilities.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent related experience
Valid driver's license necessary
Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements
Experience:
Prior customer service experience in a retail setting
Minimum one year of related selling experience
System Implementation Preferred
Knowledge:
Proficiency in Microsoft office (excel proficiency is a must)
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills
Good communication abilities
Organization skills and attention to detail
Basic math abilities
Ability to work independently
Ability to get in and out of car multiple times per day and able to spend up to 30% of the day in the car traveling to and from accounts safely in city, rural and expressway conditions
Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving and products
Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust and dirt
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
